The Myth of Black Powder

Around the turn of the 20th Century, smokeless powder was fast becoming the standard for conventional firearms. The reasons were simple. Smokeless powder produces no blinding puff of smoke, has no corrosive properties, and produces far superior performance over any black powder or black powder substitutes.

First of all, any hunter who has used traditional or modern muzzleloaders with black powder in the field knows about the smoke coming from the end of the barrel. Often, the hunter will have to wait for the smoke to subside to see if the game has been hit. This is a problem for any hunter to successfully and ethically take any game. Smokeless powder eliminates this problem completely. There will no longer be a waiting period to see if the shot is successful.

Second, and maybe the most important aspect, is the absence of any corrosive properties. Black powder can destroy the components of a firearm with amazing speed and potency. Even with the best cleaning, this severely weakens metal, which can have disastrous effect on the shooter. Smokeless powder has no corrosive effects on the components. Our muzzleloader can be fired with smokeless powder all day at the range without the necessary cleanup before leaving the table. The shooter can wait until ready to clean without fearing any damage to the internal components of the firearm. Try this with any black powder or black powder substitute and you will find a corroded mess with a severely weakened gun.

Finally, no black powder or black powder substitute can produce the ballistics properties or velocities of smokeless powder. Simply put, the safest and highest performance shooting experience can only be achieved using modern smokeless powder and cannot be reached using black powder or black powder substitutes.
Many people still cling to the outdated technology for one reason or another. Bottom line is black powder is a messy, corrosive, inferior, and dangerous substance compared to smokeless powder. Most importantly, with the proper firearm designed for smokeless powder, no gun shooting black powder or any other substitutes will ever be as safe as our new muzzleloader.
